Beauty within

Plants have great aesthetic appeal. Their shapes, colors, sizes, and textures are frequently explored in a variety of art manifestations, from painting and photography to woodworking and landscaping. Inside the stems, roots, and leaves of all plants, another world of diverse forms is usually hidden from view. Plant anatomy, or the study of internal structures in the plant body, can reveal the beauty within and instigate a new way of looking at plants. There is also a strong artistic side to the techniques used in type of study, which often involve long sample preparations, careful sectioning, delicate staining, and finally capturing an accurate and visually pleasing image.
